For four decades, Jumbo Building Products has been a fixture in the St. Thomas community—offering quality exterior home improvement supplies with a personal, local touch.
Founded in 1985 by Bob Cox, the family-run business proudly takes its name from the city’s famous elephant statue, which debuted the same year. Today, Richard Cox co-owns the company with his brother, Brian, with the next generation already involved.
Specializing in residential exterior products, Jumbo offers everything from windows and doors to siding, soffit, fascia, decking, and railing at 43808 Talbot Line in St.Thomas. “Anything from the foundation up to and including the eavestrough and everything in between,” Cox explains.
A cornerstone of Jumbo’s mission is supporting local. The company prioritizes sourcing Canadian-made and Canadian-supplied products whenever possible. Longstanding relationships with Canadian manufacturers—like North Star Windows & Doors, KB Custom Windows, Mitten Building Products, and KAYCAN—have helped Jumbo grow without losing its small-town roots.
Though the company no longer installs products, it leverages its deep experience to refer customers to trusted local contractors. “Most of our customer base is contractors, so we’re happy to recommend reputable people we’ve built relationships with,” says Cox.
Beyond business, Jumbo has been a steady supporter of the community—contributing to everything from local charities and Christmas Care to youth sports and customer-led fundraising projects.
So what sets Jumbo apart as a local Canadian success? “Expert knowledge, personal service, and a commitment to doing things the right way,” Cox says. “We may not always be the cheapest, but we provide the best value.”
As they celebrate 40 years in business, Jumbo Building Products continues to prove that supporting local isn’t just good for business—it’s good for the entire community.
