St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston officially proclaimed May 25 to 31, 2025, as National AccessAbility Week in the city, highlighting the importance of inclusion and accessibility in the community.
The week was marked with a flag raising ceremony and proclamation reading by Preston Monday morning—underscoring the city’s ongoing commitment to breaking down barriers for people with disabilities.
The Mayor also recognized Red Shirt Day, which will be observed on Wednesday, May 28th, encouraging residents to wear red in support of equal access and opportunity for all- as more than 15% of Ontarians live with some form of disability.
The theme for National AccessAbility Week this year is “Breaking barriers together: Paving the way for an inclusive future.”
It highlights the importance of working together to build a fairer, more inclusive Canada.
