Country music lovers—and those who simply love a good time—won’t want to miss the latest show hitting the stage at Port Stanley Festival Theatre.
Running June 3rd-14th, Opry Gold is a toe-tapping tribute to the legends and trailblazers of country music.
Created by Canadian performer Leisa Way, the production pays homage to the Grand Ole Opry and its influence on the genre from its roots in 1925 to today.
Backed by the multi-talented Wayward Wind Band, Way performs alongside a seven-piece ensemble playing everything from fiddle and banjo to piano.
“We’ve really got something for everyone—whether you’re five or 95,” she said, noting that Opry Gold blends nostalgia, storytelling, comedy, and audience participation.
Each musical number is introduced with a behind-the-scenes story about the artist, giving audiences a deeper appreciation for both the music and its roots explains Way.
And with 12 costume and wig changes throughout the show, Way says audiences can expect a bit of theatrical flair, too.
“I think the magic is that the audience feels involved,” Way added. “There’s a lot of laughter, a lot of music, and a lot of heart.”
In terms of why people should come out and see the show- Way had this to say.
Opry Gold runs from June 3rd to 14th at Port Stanley Festival Theatre.
