Photo Rights: Defeat Duchenne Canada
St. Thomas residents will have the chance to witness a powerful moment tomorrow as John Davidson sets out on a symbolic 30-kilometre walk from the Jumbo the Elephant Monument to Victoria Park in London.
The June 10th walk marks the 30th anniversary of Jesse’s Journey—now Defeat Duchenne Canada—and honours the enduring legacy of John’s son, Jesse, who lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Back in 1995, Davidson began an emotional journey across Ontario, pushing Jesse in his wheelchair to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne research.
That initial walk inspired a nationwide movement and launched Canada’s only charity dedicated solely to ending Duchenne.
Tomorrow’s walk will retrace the beginning of that original route, with Davidson stepping off from the Jumbo statue between 8 and 8:30 a.m.
Community members are encouraged to show their support along the way and contribute at designated “Donation Stations” throughout the route.
The event is both a heartfelt tribute and a renewed call to action in the fight against Duchenne.
