A coordinated search by St. Thomas police, including members of the Critical Incident Response Team and K9 Unit, led to the safe recovery of a lost woman on Friday evening.
Police received a 911 call around 8 p.m. from a resident who reported being lost in a wooded area between Waterworks Park and Athletic Park. GPS data from her phone initially placed her near Cora Street, close to a creek.
The K9 Unit quickly established voice contact and officers entered the brush from the rear of St. George Street.
After about 100 metres of searching through dense terrain, they found the woman on the south side of the river and brought her to safety.
