The Aylmer Police Service is reporting a significant uptick in calls for service in 2025, with occurrences up 22% compared to the same period last year.
As of early June, police have responded to nearly 300 more incidents than during the same timeframe in 2024.
Over the past week alone, officers handled 126 calls.
Chief Kyle Johnstone attributes the rise to the proactive and professional efforts of his officers, as well as increased activity in the town due to construction and a higher number of visitors.
He noted that such factors naturally draw more on police resources.
