A 16-year-old from Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation is facing charges after two police officers were assaulted during a call for service last weekend.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, officers from Middlesex County OPP and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police responded to a disturbance on Smith Road at 11:27 p.m. on Saturday, June 8.
While being escorted from the property, police say the youth assaulted two officers. The individual was arrested at the scene, and no injuries were reported.
The teen has been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer under the Criminal Code. They were later released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
