Summerfest returns to the city this weekend, featuring a lineup full of food, fun and live entertainment — with all proceeds supporting the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank.
Taking place Friday and Saturday (June 20–21) at the Columbus Club on Wellington Street, this year’s event sees a return to the two-day format, featuring a Friday night fish fry and retro dance, followed by a full lineup of live music Saturday night.
Here’s Summerfest Chair, Gerry Holden with the details.
And it’s all happening “Under the Canvas” — a large tent set up beside the Joe Thornton Community Centre, creating an outdoor festival vibe rain or shine.
Friday kicks off with the Lake Erie perch dinner served from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the Retro Dance Party until 11. Tickets for the dinner are $25, with only 150 meals available.
Saturday’s entertainment includes performances by local favourite Randy Dawdy & Riff Raff from 5 to 7 p.m., and Chicago Transit, a tribute to the legendary band Chicago from 8:30 to 11.
They’ll also have a BBQ onsite Saturday, with both evenings being fully licensed.
The best part as Holden explains, is that all money raised throughout Summerfest will support a vital local organization.
Karen McDade, Manager of Public Relations and Administration at the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank, was also on hand for the interview and says the support couldn’t have come at a better time.
With food costs soaring and demand tripling in recent years, McDade says every bit makes a difference — especially during the summer months.
Admission for Saturday night’s concert is $35 in advance and $40 at the gate. Food, drinks and door prizes will be available throughout the evening, along with draws, a silent auction, and chances to donate to the food bank directly — either with cash or non-perishable items.
For advance tickets, call the Columbus Club at 519-631-2166 or stop by Elford Automotive at 9 Anderson Avenue.
