It’s International Pollinator Week June 16th-22nd and the Horton Farmers’ Market in St. Thomas is getting in on the buzz.
This Saturday, the market is celebrating with a special themed event focused on pollinators and their role in our local food system.
Visitors can expect themed offerings from vendors, activities, live bees on site, and plenty of educational opportunities explains Sarah Noble, Manager of Marketing and Communication at the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation.
The celebration is part of the larger, weeklong initiative featuring a “Goosechase” scavenger hunt, inviting families to explore pollinator-friendly spaces throughout St. Thomas. Participants can download the Goosechase app and use join code GX72DJ to get started.
Now in its third year, the local Pollinator Week event aims to raise awareness about the role native pollinators play in supporting biodiversity and agriculture.
The Horton Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at 10 Manitoba Street. Noble adds that Pollinator Week is a great opportunity to visit — especially for those who have not experienced the market before.
