The Ontario government is expanding access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) through a major investment in the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP), aiming to triple the number of families able to benefit from publicly funded fertility treatments.
A call for applications is now open to fertility clinics across the province, as Ontario commits $250 million over three years to increase clinic participation and reduce wait times for IVF in both hospitals and community settings.
Currently, 50 clinics provide publicly funded fertility services under the OFP.
In addition, a new Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit has been introduced, retroactive to January 1, 2025. The refundable credit covers 25 per cent of eligible fertility-related expenses—up to $5,000 annually—including IVF cycles, fertility medications, diagnostic testing, and travel.
Applications for clinics seeking funding or entry into the OFP will be accepted until July 24, 2025, with successful applicants to be announced later this year.
