The St. Thomas Stars have added a major piece to their crease for the upcoming GOJHL season, announcing the signing of standout 17-year-old goaltender Dylan Durno.
Durno joins the Stars after a stellar 2024–25 season with the championship-winning Elgin Middlesex Canucks U18 team, where he posted a remarkable 16-1-2 record, nine shutouts, and an incredible 0.83 goals-against average — the best in the league.
His performance didn’t go unnoticed, earning him hardware for best GAA and selection by the Owen Sound Attack in the 2024 OHL Priority Draft.
As far as making the jump from U18 to Junior B, Durno hopes his development over the last year will be an asset.
A calm and composed netminder, Durno describes his style as focused and hard-working, drawing inspiration from NHL goalie Dustin Wolf, who is known for excelling despite his smaller frame.
Hailing from London, Ontario, Durno brings elite stats and a winning mindset to a Stars team looking to make noise in the GOJHL this season.
The team is entering a bold new chapter as our Junior B hockey club also unveiled a revamped coaching staff. This includes former NHLer and Stanley Cup champion Jason Williams, who takes over as head coach, filling the void left by Dave Matsos. More on that announcement can be found here.
