Concerns about a suspicious vehicle in a Bayham parking lot resulted in a number of charges including forcible confinement and weapon offences.
Just after 11 p.m. on June 13, an Elgin OPP officer on Nova Scotia line spotted the parked vehicle.
While investigating, the driver was arrested and a loaded firearm seized.
And it was determined the passenger was being held against their will.
The victim was not injured.
As a result, a 46-year-old of no fixed address has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Firearm – use while committing offence
- Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Forcible confinement
The accused was held for bail.
