St. Thomas is ready to paint the town red and white as Canada Day festivities return to 1Password Park on Tuesday, July 1st.
After several years at Pinafore Park, the city’s signature celebration found a new home at 1Password—and Mayor Joe Preston says it’s proving to be the right fit.
Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with family activities throughout the park, including inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo, and a wide variety of food options. Local service groups like the St. Thomas Kinsmen and the Optimist Club will be on-site with barbecue fare, while the splash pad and playground remain open for families to enjoy.
A K9 demonstration by the St. Thomas Police is set for 5 p.m.—an addition the mayor is especially excited about. “We’ve got two police dogs now, and their abilities are incredible. It’s a fun and impressive part of the day,” Preston added.
Live music from local performer John Milles starts at 5, followed by opening remarks and speeches at 6 p.m.—along with free ice cream cake served up by The Ice Box.
Throughout the evening, families can explore a vendor alley filled with local artisans and crafters, offering everything from baked goods and home decor to crochet items, 3D printing, and more.
The grand finale is the highly anticipated fireworks show at dusk. All activities are free to attend, with food and other items for purchase. Parking is also available on-site.
