The St. Thomas Police Association is casting a line back into a community tradition with the return of its Kids Fishing Derby, set for Thursday, July 10th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at Pinafore Park.
This much-loved event is back after a several-year hiatus and offers children and families the chance to enjoy a day outdoors, connect with police in a fun and relaxed setting, and experience the joys of fishing, notes Paul Tunks, President of the St. Thomas Police Association.
The derby is about more than just catching fish, stressed Tunks, “It’s a way to connect with youth and families, encourage time spent outdoors, and create lasting memories.”
No fishing licence is required, with the event made possible through support from the Police Association of Ontario, Canadian Tire Kids ‘n Cops, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, and the Ontario Fishing and Family Experience Program.
Volunteers and members of the St. Thomas Police Association will be on hand throughout the day to assist the community.
