Residents in Lynhurst, Southwold, and the north side of St. Thomas may notice a drop in water pressure this weekend as the City of St. Thomas temporarily shuts down a booster station for planned maintenance.
The shutdown is part of the ongoing Highbury Avenue widening project and is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 11th.
Water service is expected to return between 16 and 24 hours later, by Saturday, July 12th.
City officials say the timing was chosen deliberately to occur overnight and through the weekend in an effort to reduce the impact on homes and businesses.
To help maintain water service during the interruption, the Municipality of Dutton Dunwich will back feed Southwold’s supply—avoiding a full loss of water in the community.
Those in the affected areas are asked to conserve water during the temporary shutdown.
