In a major boost for wildlife rehabilitation centres across Ontario, Pet Valu has donated over 21,000 kilograms of dry dog food to Ontario Wildlife Rescue—the largest food donation the organization has ever received.
The generous gift, equivalent to 69 skids of food, will help feed orphaned and injured animals such as bears, foxes, raccoons, bats and possums at more than 50 wildlife centres across the province.
One of the local beneficiaries is itty bitty critters wildlife rehabilitation in St. Thomas, which relies on community support to care for vulnerable wildlife. Wayward Paws Wildlife Rehab Service in Ingersoll will also be supported through the donation.
“As Ontario wildlife centres don’t receive any financial assistance from the government and food is one of their biggest expenses, when they don’t have to purchase food, they can help more animals. We are extremely grateful to Pet Valu for providing such a sizeable donation,” says Sandy Donald, Director, at Ontario Wildlife Rescue.
