Nature lovers across the province are invited to celebrate Healthy Parks Healthy People Day this Friday, July 18, with free day-use access to all operating Ontario Parks.
As part of the annual initiative, no admission fees will be charged for visitors looking to hike, swim, picnic, or simply unwind in the province’s natural spaces. Parks will be open for day use until 10 p.m., and all guests will receive a complimentary day-pass upon arrival.
The goal of the celebration is to encourage Ontarians to reconnect with nature and experience the mental and physical benefits of spending time outdoors.
There are a number of Ontario Parks within roughly an hour’s drive of St. Thomas-Elgin, including Port Burwell, Port Bruce, John E. Pearce, Long Point, Turkey Point, Komoka, Pinery, Rondeau and Selkirk.
Visitors can also take advantage of the Healthy Parks Healthy People Day programs being offered at a number of parks across the province.
While admission is free, park officials recommend reserving a daily vehicle permit in advance through the Ontario Parks reservation system to guarantee entry, especially at popular locations.
Please note that regular fees still apply for services not included in day use, such as overnight camping.
