A 45-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing multiple charges after police responded to a wellness check in a retail parking lot on Monday.
Officers were called to the 1063 Talbot Street plaza after concerns were raised about an individual who appeared to be impaired. Upon arrival, police located the person in a vehicle, showing clear signs of impairment.
A field sobriety test was conducted, which the individual failed.
The suspect was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where further testing confirmed impairment by drugs.
Following the arrest, it was revealed the individual was in possession of a prohibited weapon and was also a suspended driver.
As a result, the accused is facing charges of:
- Operation while Impaired – Drugs
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Two counts of Drive while Suspended
They were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
