An investigation is underway into a fire Friday night in West Elgin that claimed the life of a 54-year-old man.
Emergency personnel responded to the blaze at a residence in the 21000 block of Pioneer Line, West of Rodney, just before 11 p.m.
The structure was destroyed and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Fire Marshal.
Pioneer Line between Blacks Road and Furnival Road remained closed Saturday afternoon.
