St. Thomas Police on Wednesday undertook a targeted blitz designed to locate and arrest individuals with outstanding warrants.
By the end of the day, eight individuals had been arrested.
Among those detained was a 41-year-old St. Thomas resident arrested at the Elgin County Courthouse after being charged with arson in relation to an investigation into a fire in June.
The individual remains in custody.
As a result of the blitz, the following arrests were made:
- A 34-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested for two counts of theft under $5,000, stemming from shoplifting incidents earlier this year. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
- A 31-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested for two counts of theft under $5,000, stemming from shoplifting incidents earlier this year. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
- A 50-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested for mischief, after being charged in June. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
- A 58-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested for assault and break and Eenter, dating back to an incident in 2024. The individual was transported to police headquarters, processed for a court appearance and was remanded into custody.
- A 41-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested at the Elgin County Courthouse after being charged with arson in relation to an investigation into a fire in June. The individual remains in custody.
- A 38-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested at the Elgin County Courthouse after being charged with theft under $5,000, failure to comply with probation order and fail to attend stemming from an incident in 2022. The individual was processed and remanded into custody.
- A 35-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested for break and enter and eheft under $5,000 after being charged in June. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
- A 42-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested for uttering threats after being charged in January. The individual was processed at police headquarters and later released on an undertaking with a future court date.
