A young driver is facing charges after police say alcohol was a factor in a crash on the south end of St. Thomas Thursday night.
Officers were called after a vehicle struck a pole. When they arrived, they found the 18-year-old driver and a friend outside the car.
Police say the driver showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody as a result.
At the station, a breath test confirmed the teen had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
He has since been charged with Operation While Impaired by Alcohol and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus.
The accused was later released with conditions and given a future court date.
