Thirty-one years after her death, Elgin OPP and the family of Sonya Cywink urge the public to come forward with any information related to the discovery of her body on Aug. 30, 1994.
Her remains were discovered at the Southwold Earthworks near Iona.
She was originally from Whitefish River First Nation on Manitoulin Island and lived in London’s east end at the time of her death.
She was last seen alive near the intersection of Dundas and Lyle streets in London, around 2 a.m. on August 26, 1994.
The provincial government and her family are offering a $60,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for her murder.
The Elgin OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch continues to investigate and follow up on all information and tips received.
Det. Inspector Randy Gaynor stresses, “Someone out there knows something about this case. Even the smallest detail could help. We urge anyone with information to come forward and help bring those responsible to justice for Sonya and her family.”
