Another incredible day and turnout for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Ontario, which returned to St. Thomas on Wednesday, September 10th.
Local athletes joined members of the St. Thomas Police Service, Aylmer Police Service, and Ontario Provincial Police for the journey downtown, beginning at the west end of the city around 10:30 a.m.
A quick stop was made at city hall, where Mayor Joe Preston took some time to thank all involved.
Following the run, athletes and participants gathered at St. Thomas police headquarters for a celebratory barbecue. While the Law Enforcement Torch Run itself was reserved for officers and athletes, the community played an integral role by showing up to support.
The Torch Run is part of a global initiative that unites law enforcement with Special Olympics athletes to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and celebrate resilience.
