Downtown St. Thomas will once again come alive next weekend, as the third annual Downtown Oktoberfest takes over Talbot and Moore streets on Saturday, September 20th.
The free, family-friendly event runs from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with something for all ages to enjoy. myFM had the chance to sit down with Sarah Lynch, Downtown Development and Engagement Officer with the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation, who broke down some highlights.
This includes a ceremonial keg tapping led by the Saxonia Hall, traditional German dancers, food vendors, a beer garden, and live music throughout the day.
Families can also look forward to free train rides offered hourly from 2 to 6 p.m., a Goosechase scavenger hunt and a jam-packed Kid’s Zone open until 7.
New for 2025 is a Street Hockey Rink near Ross Street, featuring a special mascot challenge, Police vs. Fire showdown, and free ball hockey for youth ages 7 to 15.
Lynch says the goal of the day is to showcase downtown businesses, while bringing people together in a fun and welcoming way.
