It was a bit of a bouncy ride for Railway City Transit at last week’s meeting of city council.
Members were asked to extend the current contract with Voyago by three years as the operator of transit services for St. Thomas.
Coun. Jeff Kohler was quick to stress he was not in favour of a contract extension, and instead wanted the city to explore what other transit operators had to offer.
Coun. Gary Clarke expressed similar thoughts.
In the end, however, the motion to extend the contract was approved by a slim 5-4 margin.
Councillors Rose Gibson and Jim Herbert joined Kohler and Clark in opposition.
