With Parliament convened for the fall session, a priority for Elgin-St. Thomas-London South MP Andrew Lawton is this country’s beleaguered bail system.
Lawton cites an example right here in St. Thomas, where a repeat offender charged with break and enter and breach of conditions has been released on bail.
His new conditions include, remaining in his residence daily from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.
The problem is, the man is homeless.
Lawton asserts – quote – “It shows how absurdly broken our bail system has become.”
