Southwestern Public Health is asking for the public’s help to identify a dog involved in a bite incident in St. Thomas.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. on September 14 at the intersection of Forest Avenue and First Avenue.
The dog is described as medium-sized, white, and possibly a Pitbull. It was not wearing a collar and may be a stray. Witnesses reported the animal ran down Forest Avenue toward First Avenue and into the ravine area.
Officials say they need to confirm the dog’s vaccination status to assess the risk of rabies exposure for the person bitten.
Anyone with information about the dog or its owners is asked to contact Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096 and request to speak with a Public Health Inspector.
