September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and a local agency is reminding the community that it’s okay to not be okay — and it’s always okay to ask for help.
Lila Desjardin is the Manager of Supportive Response Programs at CMHA Thames Valley, which serves Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin Counties.
And CMHA has many resources to help.
We asked Lila to go over the numbers for us, when it comes to people reaching out for their help.
Her message to anyone who thinks someone they know is contemplating suicide is clear.
You can learn more about the services provided by CMHA Thames Valley at cmhatv.ca.
And anyone in crisis can now reach out on a Canada-wide line by simply calling or texting 9-8-8.
