A 27-year-old West Elgin resident wanted in connection with an incident on the northside of St. Thomas Monday afternoon has been arrested.
Police were called to a residence around 1:30 p.m. on September 22 for a report of an assault in progress. Investigators say the accused attended the home, confronted the victim, and a physical altercation ensued.
A knife was presented during the incident, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment.
The individual, who is known to the victim, left the scene before police arrived. Authorities later issued a warrant for assault, assault with a weapon, and theft under $5,000.
On Tuesday, St. Thomas Police were contacted by Elgin OPP, who had the individual in custody on the strength of the warrant.
Officers attended to process the accused, who has since been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
