Our city’s rich history will be in the spotlight Wednesday night as CBC’s hit series Still Standing films a live taping at the Joe Thornton Community Centre.
Host Jonny Harris, well known for his role on Murdoch Mysteries, will lead the evening, alongside comedians Fraser Young, Graham Chittenden, and Nour Hadidi.
Harris joined Jamie on myFM in the morning on Wednesday, where they had the chance to speak about his visit to St. Thomas.
Still Standing highlights small towns across Canada that have faced economic challenges and adversity but remain resilient.
For St. Thomas, Harris explored the city’s rail and automotive history, the impact of the Ford plant closure, and signs of the community’s rebound.
He also shared some of the local spots he visited, including the St. Thomas Dragway, Off Road Addiction, and or course- Jumbo the Elephant.
The live taping of the show begins at 7 p.m., is free to attend, and seating is first-come, first-served. Attendees must be 12 or older, and arriving early is recommended. Harris and the show’s writers will perform sets throughout the evening that will later appear in the televised episode this winter.
For residents, it’s a rare opportunity to see a Still Standing taping in person, share a laugh, and be part of St. Thomas’s national showcase.
