A 55-year-old St. Thomas resident has been charged after a violent home invasion Tuesday morning on Elm Street.
Police were called to the residence around 4:20 a.m. after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting someone requesting help.
When officers arrived they found the door had been forced open but no one was home.
Police located the victim a short time later. They had sustained significant injuries in the incident.
Through investigation, police identified the suspect as a 55-year-old St. Thomas resident who is known to the victim.
With the assistance of the North Bay OPP Offender Management and Apprehension Team, the individual was located and arrested without incident.
They have been charged with:
- Break and Enter
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon
