Nature enthusiasts will once again gather for Hawk Cliff Woods Migration Weekend, a free, family-friendly celebration of the fall migration of hawks, raptors, and Monarch butterflies.
The drop-in event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28, hosted by Thames Talbot Land Trust in partnership with the St. Thomas Field Naturalist Club, Hawk Cliff Raptor Banders, and volunteers with Monarch Watch.
Visitors can take in live presentations featuring hawks, raptors, and butterflies, enjoy educational talks, and participate in nature-themed crafts and activities.
Highlights include Hawk Talks with the Hawk Cliff Raptor Banders at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., a live Raptor Presentation by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy at 11:30 a.m., and a Monarch Presentation at 1 p.m.
Organizers note that the event has moved to a new location at 43277 Dexter Line, at the north end of Hawk Cliff Woods. Parking is available but limited, and carpooling is encouraged. Gates will be locked at 3:30 p.m. each day.
