The Joe Thornton Community Centre will host the annual AccessAbility Open House on Friday, September 26, offering an afternoon of activities designed to highlight inclusion and accessibility.
The free event runs from 3 to 7 p.m., featuring exhibits, vendors, door prizes, and live demonstrations.
Highlights include a Wheelchair Basketball challenge at 4:30 p.m. between St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston and Elgin County Warden Grant Jones, followed by a Volt Hockey demonstration at 5:30.
Thanks to the support of St. Thomas City Council, free transit will be available for riders attending the event. The first 100 people through the doors will also receive a complimentary tote bag and drink.
Organizers say the Open House is a fun and interactive way for the community to learn about accessibility resources while celebrating inclusive sport and recreation.
The event is hosted in partnership with the City of St. Thomas, Elgin County, and the Municipality of Central Elgin.
