With students back in class and more vehicles on the roads, the Thames Valley District School Board is reminding everyone of the ABCs—Always Be Careful—when travelling near schools.
Drivers and cyclists are urged to slow down in school zones, avoid distractions such as cellphones or loud music, obey crossing guards, and stop for school buses. Parents dropping off children are reminded to use passenger-side exits and avoid parking in restricted areas.
Families walking are encouraged to use sidewalks, cross at intersections or crosswalks, and avoid distractions. When at a pedestrian cross walk, make sure you stand next to the designated crossing sign to show drivers you want to cross. Cross only when traffic has come to a complete stop or the road is clear.
A little extra caution each day helps ensure all students arrive at school safely.
