OPP have shared that a 17-year-old from Elgin County was the victim of the fatal collision that took place on John Wise Line in Southwold Township on Monday.
Police, paramedics, and the Southwold Fire Department were called to the scene around 11:40 a.m. after a pickup truck struck a pedestrian between Sunset Road and Rieger Road.
The teen was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased.
The driver, a 57-year-old Elgin County resident, was not injured.
The OPP Technical Collision Investigation team and West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement officers assisted at the scene. John Wise Line was closed for several hours but did reopen later that afternoon.
Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
