An on-ice incident late in Saturday night’s Greater Ontario Hockey League game between the St. Thomas Stars and Komoka Kings is under review by the league.
With just over a minute remaining in the third period, Komoka assistant captain Jagan Chanderdat (91) received a Match – Attempt to Injure penalty after stepping on St. Thomas forward Dylan Searles (71), while Searles was down on the ice.
That penalty carries an indefinite suspension, pending a league decision on the length of discipline. Chanderdat, who is also the son of the Kings’ owner and general manager, Roop Chanderdat, is expected to have a hearing with league officials.
Stars assistant coach Joe Doyle did confirm that Searles is “doing fine” after the incident. St. Thomas went on to defeat Komoka 4–1.
The GOHL has not yet issued an official statement on the review or potential disciplinary action.
