The St. Thomas Fire Department responded to a fire behind a Talbot Street address Monday afternoon that has since been deemed suspicious.
Officials say several 911 calls came in just after 3 p.m. reporting a fire at the rear of a building in the 300 block of Talbot Street. Crews arrived to find a mobility scooter and small enclosure on fire.
Damage to the building was limited to the exterior, though smoke had to be ventilated from two businesses and upper-floor apartments. No injuries were reported.
St. Thomas police and fire continue to investigate the cause.
