Several local education unions are warning that the Ford government’s new Bill 33 is a direct threat to public education and local democracy.
The bill, they say, shifts power away from elected school trustees and into the hands of the education minister, silencing community voices in school decisions.
Union leaders argue that instead of helping students, the government is distracting from deep funding cuts and overcrowded classrooms.
They’re urging parents to contact local MPPs and demand the protection of Ontario’s long-standing democratic school system.
