The St. Thomas Police Service will take part in Operation Impact 2025, a national public awareness campaign running from October 10th to 13th.
The initiative, led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, aims to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world by encouraging responsible driving.
Officers will be increasing enforcement and education efforts over the Thanksgiving long weekend, focusing on behaviours most often linked to serious collisions, including: Impaired driving from alcohol, drugs, or fatigue, Aggressive driving, Distracted driving, Seat belt and child car seat compliance.
This year’s campaign theme, “Safety is in MY hands”, reminds drivers that every decision behind the wheel has real consequences for themselves, their passengers, and others on the road.
Police say they will maintain a visible presence throughout the city, encouraging safe driving and holding those who put others at risk accountable.
