The St. Thomas Police Service took part in Operation Impact 2025 over the Thanksgiving long weekend — a national traffic safety campaign focused on reducing high-risk driving behaviours and promoting safer roads across Canada.
Between October 8th and 13th, officers conducted several RIDE spot checks and proactive enforcement initiatives across the city, stopping a total of 525 vehicles.
One roadside screening demand was made, but no impaired drivers were detected during those checks.
However, two drivers were charged with impaired operation following separate traffic stops. One of those individuals also faces drug trafficking and multiple Highway Traffic Act charges.
In total, officers laid 45 provincial offence charges, including 15 for speeding, 5 for using a hand-held communication device, 4 for stop sign violations, and 4 seatbelt-related offences — one involving a child passenger. Other charges included careless driving, failing to yield, and several document, equipment, and insurance violations.
Police thanked motorists for their cooperation and commitment to keeping St. Thomas roads safe.
