The kitchen at the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank was recently transformed into a bright, modern, and efficient workspace, thanks to the generosity of several local businesses and volunteers.
After water damage left it in need of repair, Sarah Coleman from the Food Bank made a call to long-time family friend, Chris Willemse, President and Owner of Casey’s Creative Kitchens.
She explains how the rest fell into place.
Casey’s Creative Kitchens provided the cabinetry and countertops, Bristol Sinks Inc. donated the sinks, while Masco Canada contributed faucets. Elgin Carpet One rounded out the project with a modern, durable new floor for the space.
While speaking with Willemse about the undertaking, he shared why they decided to step up and help.
Coleman says the renovation has been a game-changer for their team, ultimately allowing them the ability to continue to serve their clients.
Willemse says the project was a team effort, with contractors and local suppliers all pitching in to support the food bank’s mission.
With this upgraded kitchen, volunteers and staff can work safely and efficiently, while monetary donations can continue to go directly toward purchasing food and other needed items.
The renovation demonstrates the power of collaboration, highlighting how our local business community continues to come together to make a meaningful impact in St. Thomas.
