With Halloween activities set to take over the city this Friday, the St. Thomas Police Service is reminding families that safety is a shared responsibility.
Corporate Communications Coordinator, Samantha Wakefield, notes that the night is eagerly anticipated by children and adults alike, but a few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe.
This one is for those hitting the streets for some trick-or-treating.
Wakefield also encourages families to plan well-lit routes, travel together, and avoid darting between parked cars or traffic.
In terms of those handing out the treats on Friday, Wakefield has a few tips for them as well.
Adults celebrating Halloween are reminded to plan ahead, drive sober, and watch for increased pedestrian traffic.
After the night is over, parents are reminded to check candy before children get into it, discarding anything that looks suspicious or is unwrapped.
Remember, Halloween should be a night of fun! By following these safety tips, we can ensure everyone enjoys the holiday while staying out of harm’s way.
