Preventing crime before it occurs is always the best way to keep our communities safe.
That’s the message during Crime Prevention Week, running November 2-8.
It’s a partnership between the Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, which sees police services across the province reach out to their communities to highlight the importance of crime prevention as a means to achieving safer and healthier communities.
The St. Thomas Police are among local services asking residents to consider what they can do to keep their families, neighbourhoods, schools, and workplaces safe from criminal activity.
The annual campaign sees a specific focus each year, with Samantha Wakefield, Corporate Communications Coordinator, sharing the theme for 2025.
Throughout the week, the St. Thomas Police Service will share daily crime prevention tips via social media and its website, covering a number of topics, explains Wakefield.
Wakefield also stressed that community safety is a shared responsibility and every resident has a role to play in keeping the city safe.
Residents are encouraged to take part in the week’s activities, learn practical safety tips, and help make St. Thomas a safer place for everyone.
