Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles visited London and Ingersoll on Friday, October 31, meeting with workers, labour leaders, and community groups following layoffs at GM’s CAMI plant that left 1,200 people without work.
Stiles criticized Premier Doug Ford for what she described as a lack of leadership, saying he was “all photo ops, no plan” when it comes to protecting Ontario jobs.
“When CAMI reopened in 2022, Ford was there smiling for the cameras. Now 1,200 people are out of work and he’s nowhere to be found,” Stiles said.
During her visit, she met with representatives from the Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board, Unifor Local 88, and the Pillar Nonprofit Network to discuss solutions to safeguard local jobs and support affected families.
“The Ontario NDP will keep fighting to protect good jobs and lower costs for working people,” Stiles added.
