Police across Ontario are sounding the alarm after a disturbing rise in online child exploitation.
Between September 22 and 26, 2025, 14 law enforcement agencies working under the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, investigated hundreds of reports involving children self-exploiting online.
Officers spoke with 282 affected families, noting that many children producing explicit content were shockingly young — between five and nine years old.
The Provincial Strategy unites police services across Ontario to share resources, technology, and investigative tools to fight child sexual abuse online.
Authorities are urging parents to stay alert, monitor their children’s online activity, and learn about digital safety through the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
Anyone with information about child exploitation is urged to contact local police or report directly to cybertip.ca.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1.
