Env. Canada on Wednesday issued a gale warning for Lake Erie and that prompted the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority to release a watershed condition statement.
Waves building to 10 to 16 feet are expected throughout the day (Thursday).
There is a possibility of a wave uprush along the Waneeta Beach area, Port Bruce Provincial Park and harbour area.
People are urged to use caution and avoid Lake Erie shoreline areas with strong wave action.
Power outages are possible. Damage to buildings, such as roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
The watershed statement is in effect until 4 p.m. on Friday.
