A poor decision made by a motorist put the lives of young children in jeopardy.
Monday evening, members of the St. Thomas Police Service Project HomeSafe team located a vehicle in an active lane of traffic on Talbot Street with an unconscious man behind the wheel.
After waking the motorist, officers had reason to believe he was impaired and arrested the 33-year-old driver.
While doing so, they found three young children were also in the vehicle.
Further testing revealed he was impaired by drugs.
He was charged with impaired operation, possession of a controlled substance and driving with no licence, and released with a future court date.
Arrangements were undertaken for the safety and wellbeing of the children.
