With 2025 coming to an end tonight, here’s what’s open and what’s closed in St. Thomas and Elgin County on New Year’s Day.
Municipal offices and buildings in the city and across the county will be closed on Wednesday, but will resume regular operations on Friday, January 2nd.
Railway City Transit will also be shutting down for New Year’s Day, following its free service being offered on New Year’s Eve.
Elsewhere, the St. Thomas Public Library and Elgin County Libraries will be closed on Thursday.
Most grocery stores, including Briwood Farm Market, will be closed on January 1st; however, many local restaurants have chosen to stay open.
Both the LCBO and Beer Store will remain closed on New Year’s Day, but a reminder that many convenience stores across St. Thomas-Elgin now carry alcohol. Please note that Lynhurst Variety will be closed on New Year’s Day, reopening at 9 a.m. Friday.
Shoppers Drug Mart at 204 First Ave will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day in case any needs come up!
myFM will also be closed on New Year’s Day, but will be back with local news coverage on January 2nd.
