The Municipality of Central Elgin has appointed a new Chief Administrative Officer following the departure of its previous CAO, Carey Herd.
In a social media post shared Tuesday, the municipality confirmed Don MacLeod has been named Central Elgin’s new CAO. MacLeod brings more than 34 years of municipal experience, including 28 years as CAO for Zorra Township, where he was known for his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to effective governance.
The appointment follows Herd’s departure, who left the role at the end of December to accept the position of CAO with the City of Vernon, B.C.
Herd had served as Central Elgin’s CAO since May 2024.
Municipal officials say they are confident MacLeod’s background and experience will help ensure continuity in municipal operations and support ongoing strategic priorities.
