The Municipality of Central Elgin is partnering with the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, to offer residents access to swimming at the Family Y on High Street in St. Thomas at a reduced rate.
The Central Elgin swim pass gives residents access to YMCA’s open swim times, lane swims, aquafit classes, and Parent & Tot drop-in sessions.
It will operate as a one-year pilot project.
“This partnership reflects council’s commitment to supporting the health and wellness of our community,” advised Central Elgin Mayor Andrew Sloan.
Andrew Lockie, CEO, YMCA of Southwestern Ontario (pictured at left) added, “By working together, we’re removing barriers to safe, year-round aquatics close to home and opening more welcoming spaces where people can build health, confidence, and connection.
“When neighbours have affordable access to programs that fit their lives, communities thrive.”
Passes for those 16 and older are $5 or 10 for $35. Children’s passes are $4.
The passes are available at the High Street YMCA.
Aquatic passes will be offered at Central Elgin rates with proof of Central Elgin residency required at the time of purchase. Residents do not need to have a Y membership to purchase a swim pass.
